What we Need to Get Started

What we need for quoting purposes:

Choose PC board layout
Choose schematic capture

What we need for finished project:

Choose PC board layout
Choose schematic capture

How to send us your data and material

Note: Please provide specification sheets or web locations for all parts when ever possible. This lessens the chance of error and speeds delivery. We will choose an IPC related symbol or footprint for any commonly used part that is not specified for us. We will contact you if we have a package problem.

PC Board Layout - for quote only
  • A short note or drawing describing the board and its components. Please include an estimate or preferred layer count.
  • And if available either:
  • Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Print of the schematic
  • Net List

NOTE: The accuracy of our quote will be proportional to the amount of information you send us. In most cases we try to return a firm quote but it may be a range or "not to exceed".

PC Board Layout - for finished project
  • Sketch a drawing of the board outline with clear dimensions. Show all mounting holes and dimension them if critical; we will advise if necessary. Mark the preferred location of connectors and other I/O ports. Dimension if critical.
  • Bill of Materials with part description and package.
  • Net List. Protel® or Tango format is preferred. If not available, we can convert from other ASCII formats. (Download and view a sample net list in Altium Designer/Protel® format).
  • Electronic copy of the schematic in Protel®, OrCAD.dsn®, AutoCAD® or Adobe® Acrobat®. Alternatively ship a packaged print. Faxes are usually not usable.
  • Mark on the schematic or detail in text any high voltage, high current, high speed or matched lines. We will take due consideration for clock and reset lines, power rails, data and address lines; also division of analog/digital zones. Please mark preferred areas for split planes and 'Mecca' ground points.
  • If internal power planes are mandatory.
  • We will generate a usable fabrication drawing but please provide board details such as thickness.
  • The preferred sequence of layers and any other specific information you need to include for fabrication instructions.

Schematic Capture - for quote only
  • Electronic file or the clearest CAD drawing available. It is usually acceptable to fax drawings or prints for quoting.
  • Attach text that describes your needs, any pertinent information and preferred delivery schedule.

Schematic Capture - for finished project
  • Please email or overnight package, the master copy of the drawing, file or what ever you have for us to work from.
  • All labels and notations should be clear and legible.
  • Provide directions and labels for high voltage and high current lines.
  • Add any specific notes or layout instructions.

How to send us your data and materials:
  • A carrier like UPS, FedEX, or standard mail.
  • Email << sales@rb-design.com >>
Please zip up all files with a compression utility like WinZip and include a brief description in the body of the email for clarity. Note: Some files may be too large to transfer through email. Our servers can transfer up 20MB through email.
  • Anonymous FTP
Please "ZIP" up all files with a compression utility like WinZip and include a readme file for clarity. This is convenient if your data files exceed email attachment size allowances.
  • Private FTP account
If you require a private FTP account on one of our servers for sharing data with us.
  • Please contact us if you need further assistance
